The Redondo Poets have hosted a weekly open mic poetry reading, usually featuring an invited poet as well, for over 20 years at Coffee Cartel, a neighborhood coffeehouse in Redondo Beach, CA. This anthology contains poems by 80-plus poets who have been featured at the reading. The volume is edited by Redondo Poets co-founder and reading emcee Jim Doane, and co-host Larry Colker. Nationally recognized and prize-winning poets such as David St. John, Charles Harper Webb, Suzanne Lummis, Elena Karina Byrne, Cecilia Woloch, Brendan Constantine, Laurel Ann Bogen, Ellen Bass, and Hélène Cardona share the pages with poets more identified with Los Angeles and Southern California. The Foreword, Preface, Introduction, and Afterword provide personal observations from the co-hosts, the history of the Redondo Poets, and comments about the reading from participants.
