My father always told me not to throw my pearls to Swine, but I liked to defy the odds and test the limits. For years before I had thrown away pieces of myself carelessly convinced that they'd were investments. And while the return I received did not take the form I expected I learned lessons that were invaluable though hard the knocks. Fir a pig truly has no use for pearls - no matter how amusing the thought. Amidst lessons clicking into place, and new feelings of self and self worth, I fell hard for someone in ways that didn't make sense. It was unlike anything I have experienced and felt straight out of a movie. Kindred spirits, though in hindsight, this should be no surprise. He shared blood with someone I consider family. With my heart split in two, it was time to figure out where it belonged and whether or not I was still throwing pearls to Swine. This is chapter two, and I am finally ready to tell it like it is and so you will find the story is no longer jumbled. --- Pearls & Swine is the second collection of poetry by J. L. Fizzell. Inspired by the popular adage "Don't throw your pearls to swine", this book focuses on the idea that we waste too much time on things that give us nothing in return. This collection contains a continuation of many of the themes from "Icarus, Anchors & You", such as love, self worth, mental health, growth and courage.
