My Journey Through Disabilities Janie E Ferrell
My Journey Through Disabilities
Janie E Ferrell
In April 2015, I had to have an infected toes removed on my left foot. Then my right foot began to swell at a rapid rate, 7 months later. No doctor seemed to be concerned. Finally, one doctor found out it was Charcot's foot. http: //www.lifescript.com/health/a-z/mayo/c/charcot-marie-tooth_disease.aspx Many diabetics face this. Somehow, a large gash came in my right foot. I do not know how. Jason, my son. found me unconscious in the bathtub, at the point of death. EMS rushed me to the ER and it took quite a while to get me stabalised. I awoke at St. Francis down town, Greenville, SC the first of August, 2016. They had sewn up the wound and attached a wound vac which I wore for 8 weeks. It continually sucked the infection out of my foot. Finally I went to rehab for several months and when things were better I was able to move into an Assisted Living Home where I am getting better each day.
