Conversion is seen in the art of clay pottery. The vessel does absolutely nothing to be rescued from the [clay] pit, except personified, it cries for help to be delivered from the dark, miry, clay pit. The clay does not help itself to the hands of the potter for kneading, to the wheel for centering, to the shelf for maturing, nor to the kiln for firing. The potter chooses the clay, crushes it, throws it, with hands-on squeezes it, and forms it into the vessel the potter desires. He is the sovereign in His studio. The clay goes along, dug, pressed, pounded to the wheel, squeezed, pulled, raised, trimmed, then abandoned. Worse, he/she is placed in the fire, on purpose! This book is a peep into the complete process of conversion. It's a muddy mess, yet, before God can use you, He may hurt you badly. God's hands on us makes us like beautiful and useful vessels. God wrestled and damaged Jacob. Then, Jacob became Israel!
