Alone and with four kids to raise, Ellie's money is running out. As she is faced with downsizing her house and entering the workforce to support her family, her best friend Taylor offers her their cabin at Bear Lake as a summer reprieve. During a dangerous summer storm, she meets recently divorced Ryan who has retreated from his past life to find solitude in his hometown of Laketown, Utah. Complications arise when Ellie discovers that Ryan is a Mormon with strict religious beliefs and Ryan's ex-wife Alexandra arrives at the lake to win him back.
