Islands in our Head

Islands in our Head is the story of two young idealists motivated by the past words of estranged or deceased relatives, looking for the ideal life. Their philosophies are strained by the material nature of reality, but they continue searching even with experience constantly proving them wrong. It is written as both a celebration and heavy criticism of youthful optimism and naivety, and as such it is purposely written in an intense, lyrical style to capture their streams of consciousness. Because of this stylistic choice, it is also referential to postmodernist authors, giving the work a balance of seriousness and self awareness to the point of parody.
