Mummy wrappings inscribed with texts from the Book of the Dead are among the least researched topics in Egyptology. Volume I of this study contains the edition of the Ptolemaic linen amulets and mummy wrappings of the priest Hor. With a total length of over 40 m, the hieratic inscriptions on these wrappings represent the most complete preserved Book of the Dead on this medium. In addition to photographs and transcriptions of the wrappings, the volume contains details of its history of conservation, prosopography, technique of textile production, provenance and dating, as well as a comprehensive commentary to the text and the vignettes. Volume II is a handbook of late mummy wrappings with Book of the Dead texts and linen amulets. Based on several hundreds of wrapping fragments, it studies questions of chronological and geographical distribution, textile quality, wrapping formats, design principles, text selection, vignettes and placement on the mummy. The volume also contains a comprehensive prosopographical catalog. German text.
