"Images in Old Egypt" (Text in German)
This book deals with the significance of images and objects in the religious practice of the second pre-christian millenium. It examines the role which images and other artefacts have played in concrete magical actions. The structure of the actions which follow different intentions as well as the mythological background of the old-Egyptian magic are dealt with.
The comparison with the practice of images and the confrontation with criticism of icons in antiquity and in the Old Testament show the Egyptian magic of images as a consequence of a conception of a worldview which was never explicitly defined.
Merely the intensive evaluation of religious texts and the consideration of the images, which accompany those texts, are able to convey this specific kind of "creation of world".
