Contributor Bio:  Shaw, Michael Michael Shaw is a retired police captain from the Sacramento Police Department. He and his wife Linda were born and raised in Astoria, Oregon. They were married in Sacramento in the early '60s. Captain Shaw has a Bachelor of Science degree from University of New York and two years study at Fuller Seminary, in Menlo Park, CA. Book Review #1 Book: Middle Aged White Boy Author: Michael Shaw Middle Aged White Boy is a captivating account of real life in Sacramento, including the tough streets of the 1960s and '70s, and the underbelly of dirty politics, which compromised the ethical foundation necessary to the success of a community. Mike Shaw does a masterful job of describing the reality of a city and behavior, which takes the reader out of their comfort zone with compelling and objective detail. Middle Aged White Boy is a must read page-turner. John Mc Ginness Sacramento County Sheriff (Retired 2010) Sacramento Talk Show Host (KFBK 1530 AM & 92.5 FM News Talk) Law Enforcement lobbyist BR #2 Book: Middle Age White Boy Author: Michael Shaw Middle Age White Boy presents a modern "David and Goliath" true story about Mike Shaw, a police captain, who confronted, the political machine of Sacramento, its police chief, city council, and mayor in an age and race discrimination lawsuit. Throughout the book, Mike describes not only his dedication in the Sacramento Police Department, but he also gives an account of the court proceedings in which a federal court jury decided the outcome. These questions continually arose throughout the account. How can people skirt the truth? How can people knowingly do wrong and then try to cover it up with deceitful lies? In his book, Mike's faith in Jesus Christ and his commitment to both his family and to his career leave the reader with an awe of Mike's inner strength and courage that he receives from his dependence on God. I highly recommend this book and like me, you will be riveted to the unfolding of Mike's career serving Sacramento as an honest and caring police officer and later a captain.
