As Dr. J. R. Mc Gibony said "Even minor deficiencies in building design may reduce the efficiency, increase cost of maintenance, employ more hands and may mean the difference between hospital rendering good care and one which is not able to achieve the purpose for which it was established", so proper planning and designing of each department of hospital is very important factor in determining smooth operation of department when it is commissioned. An efficient planning results in smooth flow of patients and staff traffic in department. The practice of rehabilitation medicine is based on a holistic and comprehensive approach to medical care for individuals who have experienced an impairment resulting from an injury, disease process or developmental disorder. Rehabilitation is the combined and coordinated use of medical, social, educational, and vocational measures used for training or re-training individuals disabled by disease or injury to the highest possible level of functional ability. In other words, it is the process of helping a person achieves the highest level of function, independence, and quality of life possible.
