Muga silk industry of Assam has been an integral and important element in the socio-economic life of Assam from time immemorial. Muga silk industry has been passing through a number of problems for Which it fails to deliver the goods up to its potentials. Two types of bio-diversity, and insect plants are related with this industry. It can play a very important role in conservation of bio-diversity of this region. The whole study covers historical perspectives, the trend and the level of production, the marketing channels, socio-economic conditions of the stakeholders, land use pattern, economic impacts, problems and prospects.
