Therefore characterization of the germplasm of every crop is an important component for efficient management of plant genetic resource as well as their utilization. Moreover the breeder could select molecular markers that are tightly linked to a specific gene for identifying genotypes carrying that trait. Unfortunately the information pertaining to molecular assisted breeding is limited in Bauhinia and there is an urgent need to develop genetic characterization of different species in Bauhinia for further research and selection.
