The intensive introduction of Whitman's education,culture and religion posed serious threat to African cultural practices. It has emerged that African cultural practices still hold much influence on general perceptions of the masses. This text is a brief analysis on the influence of African cultural practices on aspirations for higher education. Though the study deals specifically on the influence of Nandi circumcision,the findings are an indicator to the general cultural influences albeit the technological sophistication and apparent social and psychological advancement. There is therefore need to re-examine the nature of cultural influences on the Modern African.
