Shailesh Kumar
Necrotizing fasciitis is a progressive, rapidly spreading, inflammatory infection located in deep fascia. It may cause necrosis of skin and subcutaneous tissues. Spreading of it may lead to shock, organ failure and even death. In this study, we evaluated prevalence of variables including age, sex, predisposing factors, co morbid conditions, clinical and microbiological findings, distribution of tissue involvement, treatment, outcome and mortality rate in 60 patients of necrotizing fasciitis. The study was a descriptive study which involved a single group of patients with Necrotizing Fasciitis admitted in Mahatma Gandhi Medical College & Research Institute, Pondicherry, India, between the period of 2009 September and 2011 August.
