Despite guarantees given through Article 27 of Bangladesh Constitution that all citizens are equal before the law and are entitled to equal protection of the law, there are examples of violence against women in Bangladesh society. In the recent years household crisis and violence against women in the family premises has grown enormously in the country. Under the situation the study tries to analyse different kinds of household crises prevailing in Bangladesh society, to examine socio-economic and demographic factors responsible for household crisis and violence against married women, its consequences and to suggest measures how to mitigate household crisis and how to minimize violence against married women in the context of Bangladesh Society. It calls for more attention to be paid to the many ways through which women can live a peaceful life in family premises. The content of the study may be useful for the policy makers related with the issues of violence against women of both government and non-government level. Moreover, it may be helpful for the students of Sociology and for general readers interested in gender issues.
