Though this field of research is a phenomenon of last two-three decades only, a lot of research has undergone on family business issues, especially in the western countries. The literature also reveals that only few studies have been conducted on family business management in India. In view of the fact that majority of the businesses in private sector are managed by families in India, there is urgent need to explore the influence of families on business operations and performance. It is also imperative to identify the major family business concerns /problems and find solution for them.
