Proprioception and Sports Injuries in Athletes
Natalia Romero-franco
The economic and social impact of sports injuries requires prevention programmes, in which proprioception means a key parameter for decreasing and even removing risk factors. Despite the evidence about the relationship of injuries and proprioception, the duration and intensity of this relationship remains unclear. The present work reports the role of proprioception as previous factor of sports injuries, but also the proprioceptive affectation following any sports damage, even when athletes seem to be recovered and return to their training routines. Besides, this work shows the effects of warm-up on proprioception to clear how athletes could improve their proprioceptive skills.
