Change Management for Parastatals: Analysis of Change Management, Leadership and Organisational Culture in a State Enterprise Itai Chimusoro

There is little doubt that two of the greatest challenges facing today?s organisations involve leadership and change management. As today?s world has become very dynamic in every respect ,technological breakthroughs being a major challenge the need for change has become imperative and also the need for visionaries to drive the organisations into the future. If an organisation is effective and efficient in its operations it has to move with the pace of the demands of the environment. The late 90s and early 2000 saw Zimbabwe in a serious economic quagmire and hence a lot of challenges which was characterized by the privatization and commercialization of the state owned enterprises. This was all meant to ensure that the state enterprises were generally in sync with the changing operating environment and need for efficiency and effectiveness. The departments of taxes and customs and excise were not an exception and hence the change to Zimbabwe Revenue Authority (ZIMRA). The change that took place has resulted in this research being undertaken in order to analyse how the change effort was conducted and managed for improved efficiency.
