In recent years, many Chinese experts and educators are placing increasingly more emphasis on EFL teacher professional development, and making fruitful academic achievements. In the meantime, recent years also witness the rapid advancement of network technology which is represented by the development of Web 2.0 framework. As applied in higher education, Web 2.0 framework creates a favorable platform for university EFL teacher professional development in the sense of knowledge acquisition, communication and innovation. Therefore, as the overlapping area of teacher professional development and network technology, university EFL teacher professional development in an online environment is definitely worthy of further academic exploration.
