Free ranging wildlife areas subjected for this study programme comprised the Mudumalai and Anamalai Wildlife Sanctuary, Sathyamangalam-Erode forest divisions of Tamil Nadu state and few captive temple and zoo elephants were subjected in this study were subjected to the routine parasitological examination and all the dung samples from the free-ranging wildlife regions revealed evidences of internal parasites like Strongyles, Strongyloides sp., Anoplocephala sp., and mixed parasitic conditions. Similarly, 50 dung samples were received from the co-grazing cattle in the nearby and tribal areas of these protected regions under study and were examined for evidences of endo-parasites like Toxocara sp., oocysts of Eimeria sp., Strongyloides sp., Strongyles and Paramphistomum sp. The coliform count in 15 water samples obtained from wildlife regions subjected to presumptive coliform count, inoculation test in eosin-methylene blue agar and the indole ring test at 37ºC and at 44ºC and revealed 66.67 percent. Using ELISA technique, the faecal cortisol estimation revealed 158 ng/gram, 153 ng/gram and 26.4 ng/gram of fecal sample from the above wildlife areas.
