Weeds are unwanted and undesirable plant that interfere with utilization of land and water resources and thus adversely affect crop production and human welfare. Weeds compete with crop plants for nutrients, soil moisture, space and sunlight. Weeds cause high yield reduction in crops than other pest and diseases. In country like India, which offers a wide range of climatic conditions and topographic regions, there exists the opportunity for a wide range of weeds. Pollachi is situated in the foot hills of Western Ghats (hot spots of biodiversity), is under severe threat of invasion by many weeds.
