Nurse's position is vital and multidimensional, as a human being she is prone to much stressorslike, if not more than others, .people?s reactions to stress vary from one person to the next and from time to time for the same person. These variations often result from psychological and social factors that seem to modify the impact of stressors on the individual; one of these modifiers is sense of personal control. Sense of control is the perception that one can influence what happens in one?s life, including beliefs or expectations about the extent to which one?s actions can bring about desired outcomes. Consequently, for the nurse to be an effective therapist, self awareness should be enhanced by exploring the domains of daily stressors and personal characteristics (age differences & perception of control) to examine for whom and under what circumstances reactivity to stressors would be buffered or exacerbated.
