In Tanzania and specifically in Mangalali and Chunya districts, Striga infestation is the major problem. This book assesses the socio-economic effects of Striga infestation on smallholders' livelihood. Striga infestation has a significant impact on the income of the smallholder farmers and plays a determinant role in the livelihoods of the affected farmers. Efforts to eradicate poverty in Striga infested should therefore include education of the farmers in methods of curbing the threat of Striga infestation. Such education should result in the transformation in attitudes and perceptions of smallholder farmers towards Striga infestation and the status of women.
