Berchemia floribunda tree is found on mountains, forest margins and is also found as an under growth in wet places. Chemical constituents of berchemia floribunda include flavanoids, glycosides, anthroquinones and terpenoids. But different compounds manifest on different parts of the plant i.e, Roots Leaves and Barks. In this study the bark (wall) of berchemia floribunda is considered; bulk extraction was done on the harvested bark chunks using the reflux technique. Liquid-liquid extraction was done later using petroleum ether, chloroform, ethyl acetate and n-butyl alcohol organic solvents. The n- butyl alcohol extract was then selected for further isolation and purification using silica gel column chromatography technique. Thereafter the fractions isolated and purified were subjected to 1H and 13 C NMR analysis for structural elucidation of the purified compounds. The compounds isolated belonged to various classes namely quinones, flavanoids, steroids, and lignants. A total of 16 compounds were isolated and structure elucidation of these compounds was done. The quinones isolated from this research were isolated for the first time from the wall of n- butyl alcohol extract.
