Biometrics is the automated method of recognizing a person based on a physiological or behavioral characteristic. Biometric authentication is gaining popularity as a more reliable alternative to password based security systems as it is relatively hard to be forgotten, stolen, or guessed. Many researchers are moving towards fusion of multiple biometrics to achieve more sophistication in the present systems. Instead of using multiple biometrics such as palm and face, fingerprint and palm; it is better to focus at a single biometric entity. While doing so use different measures while feature extraction. Such interesting modality is human palm. The palm presents rich geometrical features as well as rich texture features in terms of principle lines present on it. In this work we are using geometrical features such as finger lengths and finger widths as features. To increase the richness of the feature and to add more feature variance amongst the data set palm print features are added to it.
