Analysis of Suspension Loads on the Audi Tdi Lmp1 Car Josh Chang

AudiSport has been concerned with increased suspension loads, with regards to its Audi R10 TDI LMP1 sports car, due to an increase in aerodynamic down force. An investigation into the accuracy of the load cells within the pushrods as well as an investigation of the properties of the third damper bump stops is carried out in this document. The investigation showed the load cells within the pushrods to be reliable, but showed significant differences in calibration between individual pushrods. The investigation also developed technical data for an extensive collection of bump stops and compared the results to existing technical data.
