A Study About Textile Architecture in Brazil Regina Guidon De Assis

The type of textile compound used in tensile structures commonly know as textile architecture was the main subject of this book. This textile material is part of a architectural system used for covering, closing and/or protection of publics and private spaces in many countries around the world. This tensile structures are very attractive, practical and functional, with different characteristics, different shapes and sizes, depending on the requirements to be met. When well designed, they will be seamlessly integrated with the environment by having organic forms, giving a feeling of lightness, fluidity and modernity. The two types of textile materails are: a group whose structuring material is a polyester fabric coated, on both sides, with a layer of PVC and a group of glass filament fabrics coated with polytetrafluoretilene (PTFE). This study provides an overview of the subject in the world and a panorama slightly more detailed for Brazil, covering opinion of the professionals working at this Market segment, materials, assembly companies, suppliers, product types and finishes, besides difficulties and advantages of this application in Brasil.
