This research analyzes the appeal and impact of the Islamist movement in Morocco and traces its development since its early inception from a historical perspective. It examines the movement?s political activism and its confrontation with the monarchy as well as its limitations. The study explores the monarchy?s relations with the Islamists and its role in the politico-religious orientations of the country. Further, it examines the appeal and limits of Islamism from ordinary Muslims? perspective on religion and politics.
