The study determined ?implications of waste management practices on urban development: A case study of Kyazanga Town Council, Lwengo District?. This study was intended to establish and recommend waste management strategies that could raise the proper waste management practices in Kyazanga Town Council. The findings reflected that lack of awareness, lack of enough trained manpower, weak policies and inadequate funds led to indiscriminative dumping of wastes on roadsides and water channels, and construction of buildings without waste collection point. It was found out that all these led to a number of environmental and human health problems like; Infrastructure destruction, Contamination of water bodies, poor Sanitation and hygiene and disease incidents and environmental degradation. The study established that lack of enough funds and ignorance, were very key in determining the poor waste management practices in the town council. The study concludes that the occurrence of poor waste management practices in urban areas of Uganda have exerted pressure on development by creating fear, anxiety, and loss of lives and property. It recommends that, waste management be prioritized.
