This study provides information on the efficacy of Calpurnia aurea, Ocimum basilicum, Artemisia abyssinica, Croton macrostachyus, and Eucalyptus camaldulensis used by communities in Ethiopia to treat TB and/or respiratory disorders. Indeed, the study investigates the in vitro anti-mycobacterial activity of the plants Calpurnia aurea, Ocimum basilicum, Artemisia abyssinica, Croton macrostachyus, and Eucalyptus camaldulensis used to treat TB and/or respiratory symptoms on M. tuberculosis and M. bovis strains. The results of the investigation revealed that all of the study pants may contain pharmacologically active substances with promising antimycobacterial properties. It also points out that there is a possibility of getting effective compounds in the development of new and effective anti- M. tuberculosis and M. bovis strains, which can be of value in the fight against TB and other infectious diseases.
