The coastal belt (20 km) passes through two districts, Junagadh and Amreli and 13 talukas. Out of the total fish production 645 tonnes 62 per cent production was reported from the fishing centers of Junagadh. There are two developed fishing harbors with allied shore facility at Veraval and Mangrol and one more is added at Porbandar. Therefore Gujarat?s fishing ground is extensive. The main purpose of the present study is to prepare a baseline database and a checklist of the fish fauna of Madhavpur coastal area, Porbandar, Saurashra region.
