The oil content of Trichilia emetica oilseed is 65%, much higher than most commercially grown oil seeds, and its high proportion of mono-unsaturated oleic acid provides good stability. The oil can also be used as a hair conditioner, a colorant, and applied to the skin. In addition, the oil is rich in essential fatty acids (palmitic, stearic, oleic and linoleic), which the body cannot synthesize naturally, but are vital in maintaining good health.
