Addiction and Anxiety: an in Vivo Evaluation of Morphine Cessation Induced Stress and Anxiety Majid Shahabi

Acute and chronic usage of morphine cause degeneration in some parts brain which responsible for anxiety and depression. In this study we investigate the acute, sub acute and chronic administration of morphine on withdrawal syndrome, anxiety and depression by using Forced swim test, Elevated Plus maze, Open Filed Test. Our data demonstrated that acute administration of morphine does not impact on withdrawal syndrome, anxiety and depression, but sub acute, and chronic administration of morphine can be alter withdrawal syndrome, anxiety and depression. Thus, morphine abuse in addition to dependency can caused anxiety and depression. Also by more abuse of morphine we expect more anxiety and depressive like behavior.
