This book focuses primarily on that understanding of managerial responsibilities and roles in human service organizations by investigating the identification of managerial roles in human service organization based on theoretical, practical, ethical, and epistemological perspectives. A wide range of the competencies in managers will be identified in order to understand the required knowledge and skills for human service managers. Especially, this book strives to address the inquiring knowledge for human service management, including: internal and external approaches to understanding competencies in managers; organizational theories; leadership theories, and current concerns in human service management. This book, particularly, enhance to address the financial dependency between government and philanthropic giving to human service organizations (known as crowd-out effect) in order to understand the impact of government welfare expenditures on philanthropic giving to human service organizations.
