The temples, from ancient days, were the places where every Hindu had to do his puja and worship the divine. The temples are the hallowed ground of the Hindus, from which divine blessing issues to all. Various rules have been laid down in the Agamas and the Sastras regarding the construction of temple, the shape of the image organization, staffing pattern, festivals, poojas, sevas, facilities available etc leave alone finances. An attempt is made in this book to study the finances of the Swayambhu Sri Varasidhi Vinayaka Swamy Devasthanam (SSVVSD), Kanipakam, Chittoor district, Andhra Pradesh. This is one of the famous temples of Chittoor district after the Sri Venkateswara and Srikalahasti. The focus is on the significance of the SSVVSD; financial administration; growth, trend and magnitude of income; progress objects; trend and pattern of expenditure; and unit cost per pilgrim, surplus generated, assets acquired and liabilities and so on. The period of study spans over 10 years. Appropriate tools and techniques are employed to evaluate and analyse the data. The book is useful for the management of finances of temples.
