Comparison of Fiber Reinforced Gypsum and Polyurethane Materials
Fatih Perveli
This work is a research related to manufacturing of gypsum block having lower cost and higher mechanical compressive strength. In addition to its superior mechanical properties, acoustic properties are also tried to be improved. In order to reach these goals organic fibers such as tea leafs and luffa cylindrica are prefferred because of they are almost known as waste. Data obtained from previous works is used in production of gypsum block which could be used in building industry. Previous studies were related to determination of acoustic properties of polurethane matrix based organic natural fiber reinforced composites. The first goal of these work are practiced by using vacuum technology during casting of gypsum. It expand the volume and reduce weight/volume ratio. The result of this is to reduction in price. The second goal is increasing or stabilizing mechanical properies of vacuumed gypsum block by adding some addititives such as silres and silicon oil. In the study organic natuaral fibers are also mixed to the all possible experimental trials to see whether or not acoustix properties of gypsum could be improved to a economically acceptable level.
