This research explores the raced and gendered identities of eight Black women as they manage intimate relationships with self and others during the doctoral process. The book contains real implications for success by administrators, educators, policy makers and even Black women themselves. This work demonstrates the powerful impact of real women telling their stories to complete the stories of women in the academy who stand at the intersection of race and gender.
