Environmental solutions to processing facilities were in the form of end-of-pipe pollution control strategies. These are solutions that focus primarily on chemical,biological and physical treatment of terminal streams. The result has been waste treatment solutions that reduced the volume and toxicity of undesirable pollutants in industrial discharges. Although such pollution control approach has resulted in reducing bad environmental impacts on processing facilities,they focused on the symptoms and not the true causes of the problem. This myopic view lacked cost effectiveness and sustainability. Many industrial companies suffered high cost and sometimes legal expenses due to problems arisen inside their processing facilities and never been addressed at the source. This book that comes in six chapters; introduces the essence of new mass intergation methodology for the simultaneous design and operation of process plants for pollution prevention. The new methodology is illustrated with several case studies. This book is very useful to academia and industry in the fields of process integartion,waste minimization and pollution prevention.
