The work presented by the authors, is a presentation of evolutionary phase that has taken place with respect to the quality of the products as also perception of the quality of the products meant for human consumption over a period of last decade. People in general are becoming more and more aware and concerned about the quality of the various consumer products and the regulatory authorities are becoming more and more stringent with the regulatory norms of the products. Today the quality of the product is gauged not by the macro parameters but by the micro parameters of quality such as presence of at very low concentration levels of parts per million and below. In the work which has been presented here, the authors have tried to use the state-of-the-art analytical techniques to develop and validate analytical methods for determination of some of the toxic residues in certain consumer products of everyday use. The work has multifarious utility for several stake holders such as the i) raw material producers & suppliers ii) manufacturers of various products iii) the regulatory agencies & policy makers.
