Lost Futures outlines a sociological framework for explaining parental experiences of stillbirth through documenting the experiences of the parents of 22 stillborn babies. Its main focus is gender and it examines the reasons why men and women come to experience and grieve for their children in different ways. It also considers the identities that are lost in the experience of stillbirth - not just that of the child but those of the parents too - and charts their battles to reclaim these identities.
