Self-compacting concrete(SCC) is produced with the same ingredients used for conventionally vibrated concrete but with some modifications in mix proportioning, such as the amount of fine aggregate is increased; amount of coarse aggregate is reduced; amount of water is reduced; In order to overcome the workability problem, super plasticizer and Viscosity modifying agent are used; By adjusting the mix proportioning, the concrete is so created that it would not require compaction. There is no specific code available so far for SCC even though it has started to find wide application in modern days and also there is no well defined mix proportioning procedure developed. In order to study the feasibility of using the concepts of SCC with locally available materials, this research is taken up and a mix proportioning procedure is developed for medium strength concrete. Based on the results obtained in the investigations, a mix proportioning procedure is developed. This mix proportioning procedure is adopted for the production of SCC and results are verified and furnished in the book.
