Lesbian Women and Social Spaces in Cape Town: an Exploration of the Subjective Experience and Meaning of Space Paschaline Stevens

This book is an exploration of the every day lives of seven young, self-identified lesbian women in Cape Town and their experiences of social space. This research was prompted by the increase in hate crimes against homosexual individuals that occurred in various cities in South Africa, including Cape Town. The study focused on the experiences of lesbian women and how they keep safe; while at the same time exploring and expressing their sexuality in a dominant heteronormative society.
