Hannes Rall is an independent director of animated short films and has gained a reputation for creating successful adaptations of high literature. His films ?The Raven?(Edgar Allan Poe) and ?The Erl-King? (Johann Wolfgang von Goethe) have been shown in festivals and museums world-wide and won multiple awards. He is currently directing a 25 minute animated short film, based on the famous German fairy tale novel ?The Cold Heart? ( by Wilhelm Hauff, a 19th century romantic writer). He is also teaching as an Assistant Professor at the School of Art, Design and Media at Singapore´s Nanyang Technological University (NTU).?Tradigital Mythmaking-Singaporean Animation for the 21st Century? explores traditional Asian folk stories and fairy tales for adaptation as animated short films. This book includes a selection of the best stories, storyboards, designs and illustrations, which were created in the course of the project. It showcases the vast possibilities of the approach taken and the great talent of the participants. It is also a reflection of the multicultural society and the identity of Singapore, which can take pride in the richness created through its cultural diversity.
