Teachers need to develop themselves professionally in order to raise the standard of student learning. In order to achieve this, one possible approach would be through ?reflective practice' where they can improve themselves and be aware of their own ?learning' as this influence the way teachers' themselves are taught and teach in their own classrooms. Therefore, in this book teachers' continuing professional development is emphasized not only for the well-beingness of the institution they work for but also for their lifelong learning as well. Professional development is necessary if education is to be good enough to enable human beings to be continually renew themselves and competitive with the challenges they meet thorough out their career life. Other wise, professional development will only appear as a theory but not in practice.
