Cities play a vital role in promoting economic growth and prosperity. The development of urban centres largely depends on physical, social and institutional infrastructure. In this context the intra-urban transportation is paramount. Social developments and transport systems are closely related to each other and the current transport problems are in many ways reflection of todays social needs. As times and needs change new transport problems and solutions will emerge. This project provides an overview of urban trasnport issues in Pune City and in particular Swargate Junction. Rather than covering every aspect of urban transportation, it primarily focuses on those areas that are important from policy point of view.
