Quality Management in Organisational Learning
Behzad Nadi
Organisational learning is of great importance for an organisation that is in constant competition with its rivals. It is regarded as a multi-dimensional process, involving the acquisition, sharing and use of knowledge. This study compares organisational learning in two different conditions: in organisations that implemented Quality Management and earned an IS0 9000 certification, and in organisations that did not implement Quality Management. This study also discusses the relationship between organisational learning and quality management. The variables explored in this study are: the learning environment, identifying learning and development needs, meeting learning and development needs, and applying learning in the workplace. This study evaluates the effect of quality management on organisational learning by using the variables listed above. Information was gathered from employees of some Iranian companies. These companies are located in Tehran, the capital city of Iran, and have been selected randomly as samples in this study. The study was performed using a sample of 90 firms (57 with ISO certification and 33 without ISO certification).
