The rapid rate of industrialization, construction, and conversion of agricultural land for other developmental purposes has caused haphazard growth of Sangli city. There are no sufficient facilities for wastewater collection, treatment and disposal. In Sangli city sewage treatment plant is absent hence sewage from different parts of city is disposed off in Krishna River as it is. Hence, it is necessary to undertake the groundwater study for Sangli city.
