The effects of the Downtown Flushing Transit Hub Business District (BID) were analyzed in terms of its contribution to the overall economic growth in the area and the political implication of a BID in a minority community. The study reveals that the Downtown Flushing BID brought significant economic and political benefits into the community by increasing the value of affected properties, creating new jobs, leveraging the resources of the city and the community. However, such benefits were not equally distributed to the local community members.
