In the development field, energy is increasingly being recognised as a development incentive and a tool for rural development. However, little has been written on electrification and energy consumption patterns and how they affect the development process in rural areas. This book presents an analysis of rural electrification and energy consumption patterns in rural Zimbabwe, arguing that the socio-economic link between rural electrification and development is still clouded in mystery.
