There are many challenges that any student going to study overseas is likely to face. It is even more challenging for African students who come from develping countriesto study in western nations. One such problem is adjusting into their new environments,new learning technologies and making new friends. Coupled with this is the fact that in most African countries, teachers and students still use rote learning styles,which are not helpful in western Universities. John Kole has written an accessible and ideal book for the students,researchers and policy makers interested in African students'perspective of internationalization of education,transition or border-crossing and commodification of education. The author demonstrates how African international students have attempted to navigate academic,economic and social problems. He uses the voices of African students who have gone through the process of planning,travelling, settling down and doing tertiary studies in one western country.
